My Credentials

Judging is a passion I hold dear, and I have been a USEF 'S' judge for over thirty years, judging from coast to coast, at all levels of competition. I maintain this status by participating in regular USEF Judges Seminars. Many times during a judging season I have 'L' judge candidates sitting next to me, to further their education during an actual competition where decisions/comments must be concise and accurate. This is a facet of judging I particularly enjoy - being able to share my experience with a potential judge just coming onto the scene.

In 1979 I was named the ASHA, (now USEF) Horsewoman of the Year, an award from fellow horseman that is still one of the highlights of my career.

I am a founding member of USDF, serving for several years, first as one of the volunteers who worked on developing a system of newsletters to unite dressage riders from all parts country and eventually becoming Vice-President and later serving as President for this organization. One of my proudest achievements was to receive the USDF Lifetime Achievement Award in2004.

Through the years I have earned USDF's Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals and to this day I respect all those who have won these medals. Some of the highlights that made these medals possible were the wonderful horses I was privileged to ride.

In 1982 Domino I and were National Champions at Grand Prix. In 1983 Encore and I were members of the USEF Gold Medal Team at the Pan-Am Games in Caracas, Venezuela. During 1984 competed successfully in Germany and Italy with Domino and Encore at Prix St. George and Grand Prix levels. The honor of standing with some of the top riders in Europe at the time at the prize givings are committed to memory in the many photos that adorn my walls.

In 1986 Encore and I were members of the USEF Dressage Team in the World Championships in Toronto, Canada. and in 1987 both Domino and Engarde were placed on USEF's short list for the '88 Olympics. Engarde was subsequently sold to Finland where he competed for that country at the Seoul Games.

From 1989 to 2001 I have competed at all levels with more super horses, especially memorable was Main Event with whom I won the Reg. 1 Grand Prix Freestyle Championship as well as winning the Grand Prix categories in NCDCTA and the Swedish Warmblood Assoc. of North America.

Since that time I have concentrated on developing my skills as a coach which has possibly been the most fulfilling of all. To date, my assistant, Rebecca Nelles, whom I started working with in 2002 has won her gold, silver, and bronze medals as well as countless high point trophies at all levels of dressage.
